Installing VST plug-ins (PC)

VST plugins are not standalone software. They need a "host" in order to be managed and to communicate from one plugin to another. The best known of VST hosts is "Cubase" from Steinberg.

1) The first thing to do after the download is to expand (uncompress) the files. If the file is in .zip format and you've got a PC, this will be very simple: simply press the right button of your mouse on the file. You'll get a menu with an "expand" function.

2) When the package is expanded, you must run the installer and specify the VST dedicated folder of the host. The default VST directory for Cubase is "C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins". After the installation the plugin must appear into the "effects" or "instruments" menu of the host.

1) The first thing to do after the download is to expand (uncompress) the zip file.

2) When the package is expanded, you must run the installer. After the installation the plugin must appear in the "effects" or "instruments" menu of the host.

Installing the keyfiles and unlocking the full versions

The demoversions can’t be unlocked. You have to install a full version and unlock this one with a keyfile or serial.

You have received the keyfile with the download link from ShareIt. You can find it in the attachment of the email from our order. This keyfile contains your personal serial number with your name and works like a dongle. This file must be placed on a specific place on your harddisc to unlock the full version.

Gladiator 2, Warmverb Multi-FX:
The plugin will ask you for the keyfile when you start the plugin for the first time. The plugin will automatically copy the keyfile to the correct place.

Gladiator 1 on Mac:
Copy gladiator.t2k to “/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/”
The correct path for the file is: “/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/gladiator.t2k“
This is NOT the correct path: “/Users/Username/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/”
Filenames on Unix based systems like OSX can be case sensitive!

Copy gladiator.t2k to your VST plugins directory. It must be within the same directory as gladiator.dll.

FilterBank3 on Mac:
Copy Filterbank.t2k to “/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/”
The correct path for the file is: “/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Filterbank.t2k”
This is NOT the correct path: “/Users/Username/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/”

FilterBank3 on PC:
Copy filterbank.t2k to your VST plugins directory. It must be within the same directory as 'FilterBank3 FX.dll'.

FireBird+:
Copy firebird.key to your VST plugins directory. Do not double click on the file! It must be within the same directory as 'FireBird.dll'.

Where can I find the VST plugins directory (PC)?
This depends on your host installation. Steinberg hosts often use C:\Program files\Steinberg\VSTplugins. You can also take a look at your host's directory configuration. Another way to find it is to use the Windows file search function. Search for 'firebird.dll' or the plugin of your choice.

When I try to download the product's keyfile, it opens a page with numbers.
Some browsers open the keyfile instead of saving it, choose 'save as' from your browser's 'file' menu and save the keyfile from there.

Are Tone2 products Windows 7 compatible?
All products are compatible with Windows 7, run both the plugin installation and host software with administrative rights to ensure a working configuration.

My browser opens and tells me that I am using a pirated plugin - the plugin does not output sound?
